# Copper-nickel tube for nuclear heat exchanger service.

Dominion Energy required C71500 seamless tubing for critical nuclear heat exchanger service, with long-term corrosion resistance and strict quality and documentation requirements. Ameritube managed the project from material receipt to shipment under controlled processes, verified testing, and full traceability, with the customer's inspectors welcome at every step.

## The requirement

A controlled manufacturing process that documented work instructions, operating parameters, dimensional and test data, and allowed customer surveillance at the Ameritube plant, all in accordance with the purchase order. The tubing had to be annealed, hydrostatic and air-underwater tested, flattening and expansion tested, and shipped with MTRs.

## How the order ran

Work-order control and routing gave full traceability from raw material to finished product. Operating parameters were recorded for every critical process: temperature, time, pressure, and material data. In-process monitoring, inspections, and calibrated equipment kept the tube to specification, and the customer's inspectors had open access to production, inspection, and test records.

## Testing

**Non-destructive:** eddy current, hydrostatic, air underwater, ultrasonic, positive material identification. **Destructive:** flattening, expansion, tensile, microstructure and grain size, spectrometry.

## The result

3,600 pieces of C71500 seamless tubing delivered in export-ready packaging, on time, with all testing complete to the ASME, ASTM, and military specifications, customer surveillance and third-party inspection satisfied, and the documentation package accepted.
