## What Nickel 200 is

Nickel 200 is wrought commercially pure nickel. Its defining property is near-total resistance to caustic alkalis, including hot concentrated sodium hydroxide where even the best stainless and nickel-chrome alloys corrode. It also resists neutral and alkaline salts, dry halogens, and many organic chemicals, and it does not contaminate the product it touches.

## Nickel 200 or 201

Above about 600 degrees F, the carbon in Nickel 200 can precipitate as graphite and embrittle the metal. Nickel 201, with carbon held to 0.02% max, is specified for higher-temperature caustic evaporators and similar service. Tell us the temperature and we will quote the right one.

- Food processing and pharmaceutical exchangers where product purity is critical.

**What to put in your Alloy 200 RFQ**

OD, wall, length, quantity, ASTM B161 (general) or B163 (condenser and heat exchanger), temper, design temperature (above 600 degrees F consider Nickel 201), and the process chemistry.
