What Alloy 800 is
Alloy 800 is an iron-nickel-chromium alloy, roughly 46% iron, 32% nickel, 21% chromium, with aluminum and titanium. The nickel content is high enough to prevent chloride stress corrosion cracking and to keep the austenitic structure stable at temperature; the chromium provides oxidation resistance. Three grades exist:
- Alloy 800 (N08800): general corrosion and moderate temperature service.
- Alloy 800H (N08810): 0.05 to 0.10% carbon and ASTM grain size 5 or coarser, for creep strength above 1100 degrees F under ASME Section VIII and Section I.
- Alloy 800HT (N08811): 800H with controlled aluminum plus titanium for the highest creep strength.
Standards we supply to
- ASTM B163 / ASME SB-163, condenser and heat exchanger tube
- ASTM B407 / ASME SB-407, seamless pipe and tube
- ASTM B514 and B515 welded on request
